Green Light to Heaven
Clear and Visibility Unlimited
As I drove home from the funeral home that rainy Friday night, I wasn’t really paying attention to my surroundings. My mind, heart and thoughts were on the scene I left behind. The flowers, the photographs, the men in uniform standing at attention and helping out, the family standing close together, the folded American flag, the tears, the flowers, the memories, the strength and courage of those left behind.
As I got closer to home I realized in the back of my mind that I had not been stopped once by a traffic light. All lights I passed had been green and the image of a Green Light to Heaven came to me. I wondered if anyone else ever thought of it and figured that someone probably had. Then I remembered a license place I once saw. It read CAVU—Clear and Visibility Unlimited.
I knew then for sure that the Colonel had a Green Light to Heaven. The path was Clear and Visibility was Unlimited.
Away you go. We will all miss you.
