The Ross School will hold its fifth annual Starlight Ball to benefit the Steven J. Ross Scholarship Fund on Saturday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the school’s Center for Well Being at 18 Goodfriend Drive in East Hampton.?The scholarship fund, named after the school’s founder, enables 46 percent of Ross School students to receive some form of financial aid. The co-chairs for the 2008 Starlight Ball will be author Jay McInerney and his wife, Anne Hearst. Juergen and Anke Friedrich and the JAF Foundation will be this year’s honorees.?This year’s ball will showcase the disco-funk band Chic formed in 1976 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. The band’s hits include “Everybody Dance,” “Good Times,” “I’m Coming Out” and “Le Freak.”?Besides music and dancing, the Starlight Ball will include cocktails, dinner, raffles and live and silent auctions. Premium ticket buyers will attend a special cocktail reception with Mr. Rodgers, Chic and other surprise guests.?Tickets are $500 and $1,000 with premium tables ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.
