Nominations sought for state award on disabilities

State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle is seeking nominees for an award to honor people who have overcome physical or mental challenges and had a positive impact on their communities. Nominees may also be an advocate for persons with disabilities.

To make a nomination, call the senator’s district office at 696-6900. Nominations are due April 18.

“I am committed to working to improve opportunities for advancement and achievement for all citizens,” Mr. LaValle said in a release. “I believe that the New York State Achievers’ Award is a worthwhile effort to helping achieve that goal and look forward to the support of the residents in my district in finding a recipient worthy of this honor.”

The First Senate District winner will be invited to join Mr. LaValle in Albany at the 28th annual Senate Disabilities Awareness Day on May 6.
