New listing service launching on East End

A new residential real estate listing service is coming to the East End and some say it could be real competition for the two major programs already in use by most licensed agents.

The Hamptons and North Fork Realtors Association (HANFRA) will be launching a new comprehensive listing service soon that will offer information designed to fit the needs of the Hamptons real estate marketplace. There are currently two other such services widely used by East End agents, the National Association of Realtors sponsored Multiple Listing Service, commonly referred to as the MLS, and the local-based Open RealNet Exchange, owned by Hamptons Real Estate Online.

The new service, designed by national MLS provider Rapattoni Corporation, is a web-based program designed specifically for the East End that will also tie in basic real estate necessities—such as National Association of Realtors rules and regulations as well as local information like water frontages and seasonal rentals, according to HANFRA literature.

Kind of a cross-breed of the MLS and Open RealNet Exchange, HANFRA’s listing service will offer an “affordable, robust, state-of-the-art, exclusively East End listing service which will enable our members to better serve their clients,” according to a statement issued by HANFRA President John Nickles.

Another benefit of the HANFRA system is that it will make the co-broking of properties easier and more affordable, specifically for the smaller agencies that might not be otherwise provided with the access to view properties listed by larger agencies, according to Richard Stauffer, the executive Officer for HANFRA.

“For the first time, a small one or two person office or three office agencies with numerous agents will be able to afford access to a multiple listing service provided by a local association created to serve the [agents] in the five East End townships,” he said.

Mr. Nickles said that the “ease of use, convenience, speed and reliability” will ensure that his organization’s program will stand “far and above the others by setting the industry’s standard for delivering the best technology available.”

The HANFRA-offered service is due to launch in mid-April. For more information, visit
