Company will donate tree

The O’Kula Tree Company of Moriches will donate a 10-foot tree at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Main Street in Westhampton Beach on Friday, April 18, at 12:30 p.m. in honor of Arbor Day.

“We at O’Kula believe that when children learn at an early age to enjoy trees that give us fresh air, that shade us from the sun on sunny days and that through seeing the beauty of leaves of all seasons, they can grow to respect the environment,” said owner Paul S. O’Kula. “Our mission is very much the same as that of the Arbor Day Foundation.”

The event is open to all, and children who attend will receive an organic care coloring book and temporary Arbor Day tattoos.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit organization of approximately 1 million members and its mission is to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. Arbor Day, which began in Nebraska in 1872 with the planting of more than 1 million trees, became a national holiday in 1882 and is now observed worldwide. This year Arbor Day will be celebrated on Friday, April 25.

The O’Kula Tree Company has been in business since 1975 and has long been dedicated to quality care and service of trees on both the South and North forks. Owner and founder, Paul S. O’Kula, is a certified organic landscaper and arborist and a member of the Long Island Arborists Association and New York State Arborists.
