County Legislator Jay Schneiderman announced last week that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will aid Suffolk County in its scholarship opportunities due to the continued need for first responder volunteers.

The Suffolk Educational Program for Recruitment in the Voluntary Emergency Service scholarship will pay the tuition for a two-year degree from Suffolk County Community College for any new recruits or current volunteers who matriculate.
