A great day

We would like to thank the Michael Collins chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Hampton Bays for the kindness and generosity of spirit they showed local dialysis patients on St. Patrick’s Day. Dialysis patients are required to have treatments three times weekly. Having holiday festivities on dialysis days makes the time pass quickly and most pleasantly.

Thanks to the AOH, we had the pleasure of excellent and high-spirited bagpipe music and some fabulous homemade Irish soda bread (and ?the requisite butter) to help celebrate the festive day.

Our special thanks go to Nigel Williamson, the chapter president, for his presence and gift of soda bread, and for taking pictures of our celebration.

We would also like to thank Mike Smith who not only played sensational bagpipe music, but also answered questions about its history and about learning to play.

Finally, we would like to thank Dennis O’Rourke, who was the liaison for the event, for his can-do spirit.

It was a great day for the dialysis patients and staff—Irish or not.

Thanks again to the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
