Special Olympics comes to William Floyd


The William Floyd School District will host the 37th annual Special Olympics Spring Games on Sunday, with opening ceremonies beginning at 9:30 a.m. and closing ceremonies taking place at 3 p.m.

More than 1,000 athletes will participate in a variety of events, including running, long jump, standing long jump, shot put, softball throw, tennis and Frisbee at the William Floyd High School.

U.S. Representative Tim Bishop and County Executive Steve Levy and will attend the event ,along with several other state officials.

An Olympic Village will support the event with 300 groups showcasing items for the visitors. William Floyd Superintendent Dr. Paul Casciano will provide the welcoming remarks.
