Hampton Bays man arrested after crash


David B. Riscen, 36, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Southampton Town Police at the Peconic Bay Medical Center and charged with DWI following a three-car accident on the morning of April 23 at the corner of Flanders Road and Bellows Pond Road in Hampton Bays.

The crash occurred at 7:45 a.m. when Mr. Riscen drove out of the eastbound lane on Flanders Road and sideswiped a car travelling in the westbound lane on the same road, according to police reports. The car Mr. Riscen sideswiped then struck another westbound vehicle.

The driver of the car Mr. Riscen hit was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Police had to divert traffic along Flanders Road for half an hour.

Arrests in Burglaries

An 18-year-old Speonk resident was arrested by Southampton Town Police on Sunday evening at his home on Montauk Highway and accused of stealing cash from a neighbor.

Town Police arrested Ulises Morales at 5:51 p.m. and charged him with stealing $1,500 in cash from the apartment adjacent to his. Mr. Morales stole the cash on Saturday, police said, and is charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and false personation, a misdemeanor.

In another case, Joseph P. Valentino, a 21-year-old from East Quogue, was arrested by Town Police on May 7 at 12:30 p.m. at his residence on Pine Tree Court and charged with second-degree burglary, a felony. Mr. Valentino was charged in connection with a 2006 burglary on Foster Crossing, according to police. On May 8, Mr. Valentino was brought to the Southampton Town Justice Court and additionally charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.
