An elderly woman lost control of her car while traveling on South Country Road in Westhampton on Friday evening and her vehicle, after striking the guardrail, ended up partially submerged in a small creek, according to Westhampton Beach Fire Department officials.
The driver, who was not identified, was able to get out of the car on her own. The woman was not seriously injured in the accident and was treated at the scene by members of the Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance company.
“She walked out of ambulance when she was done,” said Fred Bauer, the public information officer for the fire department.
Firefighters responded to the call at 6 p.m. on Friday, Mr. Bauer said. He added that the accident took place just east of the intersection of Tanners Neck Road and South Country Road.
