The right stuff

I am presently running for election for a vacant three-year term of commissioner for the East Quogue Fire District.

I am a lifelong resident of East Quogue and have been an active member in the East Quogue Fire Department for more than 30 years. In addition, I served 12 years as an EMT and two years as a lieutenant. For the past 25 years, I have been the elected president of the department’s corporation, a position that I will leave if elected commissioner.

I have been fortunate to be employed since 1975 by the Town of Southampton Parks and Recreation Department. In 1980, I was promoted to the position of superintendent and am responsible for the overall supervision of the department and its significant assets. My job has given me much experience in budgeting, personnel, planning and many other areas. These skills will aid me in becoming a good fire commissioner.

I plan to stay active in the department for as long as I can, but look at the commissioner’s job as a way for me to help in another way. I will assure you that, if elected, I will support the fire department to be sure that firefighters are equipped properly and operating efficiently. I will also, however, try to accommodate the department’s needs while looking at the district residents’ ability to pay.

I would appreciate your support during this election.

Voting will be held at the firehouse on Tuesday, December 9, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. All voters registered to vote in regular elections held in East Quogue are eligible.
