Thank you for recognizing Peconic Bay Zonta’s recent service project on behalf of Maureen’s Haven [Friends and Neighbors, Western Edition, November 20]. Peconic Bay Zonta is affiliated with Zonta International, founded in 1919 as a global organization of professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide.
From now through December 10, our club is participating in a global campaign called “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence.” The campaign calls for the elimination of violence against women. This year’s theme, “Every Human Has Rights,” recognizes the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was ratified by the United Nations on December 10, 1948.
Peconic Bay Zonta is seeking new members who are interested in helping women and girls through service and advocacy. For more information about Peconic Bay Zonta, see the club’s website at peconicbayzonta.blogspot.com, or send an e-mail to email@example.com.
