Fire District elections this week


East Hampton Town’s fire districts will hold elections for their respective commissioners on Tuesday, December 9. There are no competitive races this year.

Polling in the Montauk Fire District will be held at the fire department from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Veteran fireman Richard White Jr. is the sole candidate on the ballot to replace John Salmon, who has decided not to seek another five-year term on the board of commissioners. Mr. White is the secretary of the Montauk Fire Department.

In the Springs Fire District, residents can cast ballots between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Incumbent commissioner Kenneth Brabant Sr. is running unopposed for another term.

In the Amagansett Fire District, incumbent commissioner Daniel Shields is running for another term on the district board. He is unopposed. Polling will take place at the fire department headquarters from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The East Hampton Fire Department is overseen by the Village Board, which acts as the board of fire commissioners.
