ESM bowlers improve to 4-0; Mariners get past Rocky Point


In its only match of the week, the East Hampton bowling team cruised to an easy 31-2 win over a rebuilding Westhampton Beach team at the Wildwood Lanes in Riverhead on Thursday, improving to 2-1 on the season in League V.

The Bonackers won all three of their games, with scores of 838-733, 918-805 and 925-723 while holding a 2,681-2,261 lead in total wood.

Brian Pfund led East Hampton with a 568 series.

East Hampton was scheduled to face Southampton on Tuesday and will host undefeated league leader Eastport South Manor on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.


The Mariners split a pair of matches in League V action, falling to undefeated league leader Eastport South Manor 21-12 on December 10 at East Hampton Bowl before getting past Rocky Point 30-3 on Thursday, also at East Hampton Bowl.

The Mariners moved to 2-1 in League V matches with the split.

Against ESM, the Mariners won the first game 936-927 before dropping the next two games with scores of 851-808 and 919-813. ESM had a 2,697-2,557 advantage in total wood.

In the win over Rocky Point, the Mariners won all three matches with scores of 897-730, 897-696 and 858-825, while holding a 2,652-2,251 lead in total wood.

Luke Powers led Southampton in both matches, bowling a 577 series against Rocky Point with a high game of 215. He had a 559 series against ESM with a high game of 234.

Kyle Robinson bowled a 561 series against Rocky Point with a high game of 202, while Eric Miller had a 524 series against the Sharks with a high game of 214.

Southampton head coach Peter Liubenov said he was happy with his team’s performance in the two matches.
