Helene Bassett of Sag Harbor died on December 22 at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 87.
Born on January 21, 1921, in Brooklyn to Eleanor Miller and John Joseph Fisher, she worked as a seamstress and made costumes for Guild Hall. Before moving to the East End, she lived for more than 60 years in Mesa, Arizona, where she owned a lapidary shop.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith Rana of Sag Harbor; a son, David Ross of East Hampton; a granddaughter, Deborah Tagliavia of Maryland; and two grandsons, Ralph Rana Jr. and Michael Rana, both of Sag Harbor. Her husband, Reginald Bassett, predeceased her.
A funeral service, officiated by the Reverend J. Cardone, was held on December 27 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Interment followed at Oakland Cemetery.
