The Westhampton Beach girls winter track team had a strong showing at the Yale University High School Classic on Friday, with a quartet of freshmen runners coming with the most impressive performance of the day for the team.
Of the three relay teams that coach John Broich brought to the competitive meet, the all-freshman combination of Remy Kneski, Coryn Cange, Krista Kearns and Brianna Spano had the best finish, taking 17th out of 40 teams in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:48. Kneski ran her leg in 1:10, Cange finished in 1:07 and both Kearns and Spano finished in 1:12.
“They were the highlight of the meet,” Broich said. “I was very happy with their performance because they never ran together and they were very nervous.”
