Greens fees at Suffolk County golf courses may be reduced for area veterans under legislation sponsored by County Legislator Jay Schneiderman earlier this month.
On March 5, the County Legislature approved the legislation, which still needs approval from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
If the measure is ultimately approved, Suffolk County veterans can receive the discount by contacting the Parks Department at 854-4949 or by visiting Suffolk County Park locations where Green Keys are sold; proof of residency and veteran status are needed.
The reduced greens fees would be available at Cedar Point, Cupsogue, Indian Island Campground, Indian Island Golf Course, Montauk, Sears Bellows and Shinnecock East.
“The opportunity to give back to members of the armed forces is what this is all about, I encourage our veterans to take advantage of the discount and benefit,” Mr. Schneiderman said. “It is the least any one of us could do to show our appreciation of and respect for the men and women who serve our country.”
