Oh, how I wish I was a kid again! East Quogue’s newest store, The Art of Wisdom, will be holding themed parties that run the gamut, from angel and princess parties to rock and gyotaku parties.
And much more will be going on at this charming new addition to our hamlet: art, yoga and crocheting classes for adults, as well as summer art camp, story-time yoga and puppet shows for the kids. A preschool program will also begin in September. The Art of Wisdom is located at 540 Montauk Highway.

So, please come to the grand opening this Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., to meet “Miss Bernadette” Libardi who will answer all of your questions. Just in case you cannot make the opening, you can reach Bernadette at (631) 974-5080 or at TheArtOfWisdom@yahoo.com.

Personnel Specialist Seaman Danielle G. Bender returned to our hamlet after serving an eight-month deployment in the western Pacific Ocean and the Persian Gulf aboard the USS John C. Stennis CVN 74 Aircraft Carrier Strike Group. After a two-week leave, she will head back to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington.

All of East Quogue thanks you, Danielle, for keeping us safe and out of harm’s way!

On Friday, May 3, at 6 p.m., our East Quogue Elementary School students, teachers and administrators will be celebrating people who have battled cancer, remembering loved ones who lost their battles and fighting back against a disease that has taken too many lives. The event, Relay Recess, brings the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life to elementary schools and it promises to be an amazing night for our community.

There will be lots of fun stuff to do, including races and face painting, as well as a Chinese auction. Luminaries will be on sale for $10 each. And to add to the merriment, local restaurants are donating food to the “Survivors Dinner” for cancer patients, survivors and their families and friends. The free dinner will be held in the school cafetorium. Please call the school at (631) 653-5210 for information.

For more information on this free event or to donate, sign up or support a team, visit www.relayrecess.org/index, click on “My Event,” scroll down to “Find An Event” and enter our zip code.
