Roger Westerhoff Of Southampton Dies April 16


Roger M. Westerhoff
Roger M. Westerhoff of Southampton died on April 16 at Southampton Hospital. He was 77.

Born in Eastport on December 1, 1935, to C.B. and Jeanette Westerhoff, he graduated from Southampton High School in 1953 and then served in the U.S. Army. He married Frances L. Muzzey of Miami on September 16, 1957.

Mr. Westerhoff was former owner of the family business, John Duck Jr. Restaurant in Southampton. He was involved in many community clubs and organizations, including the Southampton Fire Department’s Hook and Ladder Company for more than 50 years and the department’s antique truck committee, the Masons, the Elks Club and the American Legion. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton, serving as a deacon, an elder and a trustee.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Westerhoff is survived by three children, Linda, Roger Jr. and wife Lee, and William and wife Deirdre.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the J.M. O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton.
