ESM Girls Lacrosse Picks Up Two More Victories

The Eastport South Manor girls lacrosse team picked up two victories last week. The Lady Sharks won, 14-3, at Huntington on April 23, then defeated Rocky Point, 9-3, at home on Thursday, April 25.

ESM had a 4-0 first-half lead over Rocky Point and scored five more goals in the second half en route to the team’s sixth victory of the season. Kristen Anderson scored a hat trick, had an assist and won seven draw controls. Jackie Wasilko scored two goals for ESM.

The Lady Sharks had a 9-2 lead after the first half, then used a 5-1 second half to cruise to victory over Huntington. Dakota Mason scored five goals and added an assist. Blair Rosenberg and Allyson Tolken scored two goals each.

ESM also played a non-league game at Farmingdale on Saturday night and lost 10-8. Maggie Fleming gave Farmingdale a 9-4 lead with 20:59 remaining before ESM went on a 4-1 run to close out the game. Mason, Anderson and Marissa Gurello each 
scored two goals for the Lady Sharks.

ESM, as of Monday afternoon, was 6-3 in Division II with 134.97 power points, placing it sixth in Division II, but second among fellow Class B teams.
Sharks Lacrosse Earns A Split
The ESM boys lacrosse team split its games last week with an 8-3 loss at Comsewogue on April 24 and a 16-4 win at home over Elwood/John Glenn on Friday.

The Sharks held a tight 4-3 lead after the first quarter with Glenn on Friday but went on to score nine unanswered goals between the second and third quarters to take over the game. Dan Dowsett and Patrick Kenneally each scored a hat trick in the win and Austin Macchi won 15 of his 21 face-offs and picked up 14 ground balls.

Comeswogue had a 5-4 lead after three quarters of play last week, but it used a 3-0 fourth quarter to fend off ESM last week. It was just the third Divison II loss of the season for ESM, fourth overall. ESM (6-3 Division II, 7-4 overall, 131.39 power points) sat in fourth place in the division as of Monday afternoon.
Baymen Baseball Drops Series
After winning their first League VIII game of the season on April 22, the Hampton Bays baseball team dropped the next two games of the series to Port Jefferson. The Baymen lost, 5-2, at Port Jeff on April 23, then lost, 8-6, again at Port Jeff on Friday.

Hampton Bays was 1-11 League VIII, 2-12 overall.
Hampton Bays Lax Teams Lose
The Hampton Bays girls lacrosse team lost, 16-1, at home to Deer Park on April 23, then lost, 18-3, at East Hampton on Friday. The boys team lost, 12-3, at East Hampton on April 24, then lost, 10-4, at home to Deer Park on Friday. Both Hampton Bays teams were winless.
