Dene’ DiMartino continues to impress on the lacrosse field.
The 2012 Eastport South Manor graduate and Manorville resident was named American Lacrosse Conference Rookie of the Year on May 1 following her first full season at Johns Hopkins University. She was also named to the All-ALC Second Team as a midfielder.
DiMartino is just the second woman from Johns Hopkins to earn Rookie of the Year honors and the first since 2007. She was named ALC Rookie of the Week three times and is second on the team in goals (34) and draws (43) and fourth on the team in points (37) and ground balls (22). DiMartino leads all freshmen in the ALC in goals, points and draws and is second in ground balls. She recorded seven hat tricks and is the first freshman from Johns Hopkins to score 30 goals or more in a season since 2007.
DiMartino was arguably the best girls lacrosse player to ever go through the ESM system. She led ESM to its first ever county championship last season with 60 goals and 18 assists and the Lady Sharks were 51-18 during her high school career. She was a three-time U.S. Lacrosse All-American and three-time All-County player. She also played basketball and soccer.
