The Westhampton Beach baseball team dropped the first contest of a three-game series against Rocky Point, 5-4, on Monday at Rocky Point High School.
Rocky Point’s Will Serviss hit a sacrifice fly to score Frank Moscatiello, which gave the Eagles a 5-3 edge in the bottom of the sixth. The Hurricanes added a run in the top of the seventh but couldn’t complete the comeback. Hurricane Mike Pesce hit a home run in the game.
Joe Mattero pitched a complete game, one-hit shut out to earn his first varsity victory in Eastport South Manor’s 5-0 win at Harborfields on Monday. He struck out 10 batters.
Mat Annunziata drew two walks, hit a solo home run and stole two bases while Mike Burkhardt went 2 for 3 with a triple.
Hampton Bays Baseball
The Baymen lost 8-4 at Center Moriches on Monday. They fell to 1-15 (2-16 overall) with the loss.
Westhampton Beach Boys Lacrosse
The Hurricanes came back for a 7-5 win at Miller Place on Monday to improve to 8-4 in Division II, 9-4 overall, with 136.31 power points.
Trailing 4-2 at halftime, the Hurricanes used a 5-1 second half to snag the victory. Zach Moore and Casey Hickey scored two goals each for Westhampton Beach.
Westhampton Beach Girls Lacrosse
The Lady Hurricanes picked up a 17-9 non-league victory over Smithtown East at home on Monday.
Bella Recchion scored four goals and had four assists while her sister, Zoe, added a hat trick. Alexa Smith and Sarah Culver both scored four goals each for Westhampton Beach.
Hampton Bays Girls Track
The Lady Baymen suffered a loss in their final dual meet of the season at Southampton on Monday, 89-61. Hampton Bays finishes the season at 3-3.
Westhampton Beach Softball
The Lady Hurricanes fell 3-0 at home to Rocky Point on Monday. It marks the third consecutive loss for Westhampton Beach after winning five straight games.
