The Sag Harbor Village Board, in a special meeting last week, appointed a hearing officer for an unspecified personnel matter.
Village Mayor Brian Gilbride said the village appointed Maureen Liccione of the Garden City law firm Jaspan & Schlesinger, but he refused to provide further details. “I’m not going to talk about personnel issues,” he said. “I don’t want to violate anybody’s rights.”
There was no response to a request on Tuesday seeking the amount of money the village will spend to retain the hearing officer’s services.
In a unrelated move, Sag Harbor Village Zoning Board of Appeals member Benedetta Deubel has resigned her post after eight years, citing health issues. “It was really fatigue and tiredness,” she said in a telephone interview this week. “I loved being on the board, and I loved the people and I love the village,” Ms. Deubel said in a telephone interview this week. Her resignation took effect April 22.
“She’s been an outstanding member, and we accepted it with regret,” Mayor Gilbride said. “I can only say the entire board wishes her well and thanks her for her service to the village. We’re sad to see her go.”
He said the Village Board has reached out to interested candidates who have submitted resumes and would like to appoint Ms. Deubel’s replacement at its next meeting, on Tuesday, May 14.
