On Friday, April 19, Jean Dodici’s and Anne Miller’s second grade classes went on a field trip to visit Hallockville Farm and Museum. The children have been learning about urban, suburban and rural communities and how life has changed over the years. During the field trip the students learned firsthand about baking molasses cookies in a wood burning stove, grinding corn and feeding it to the chickens, washing clothes using a washboard and bar soap, wringing the clothes in a clothes wringer, and exploring the old farm house and barn. After the activities, the students had a picnic lunch and got to eat the delicious molasses cookies they had baked.
The seventh grade outdoor educational trip this year will be the week of May 13 to 17.
