Teeny Nominations Announced

East End Arts announced the 2013 Teeny Awards nominees on May 8. The Teeny Awards, conceived from the idea of The Tony Awards for Broadway shows, has been celebrating excellence in high school theater across the East End of Long Island since 2002, and is presented and coordinated by East End Arts.

The top five scoring students are the nominees in each category. A formal awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, at Southold Junior-Senior High School. The 11th annual Teeny Awards ceremony will hosted by Bonnie Grice.

The categories are: Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress in a Drama; Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress in a Comedy; Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress in a Musical; Outstanding Performance; Choreography; Outstanding Ensemble; and Playbill/Poster Art.

Bridgehampton High School will be recognized for Innovation in Theatre Education. The Greek Chorus from Shelter Island’s “Legally Blonde” was awarded the Judges’ Choice Award.
