An unidentified man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday after he was found injured and laying on the pavement next to his bicycle on Flanders Road, according to Southampton Town Police.
A police officer at the scene said it was unclear whether the Hispanic male was hit by a car or fell off his bicycle, which lay along the northbound side of the road, just east of Cypress Avenue. The officer said he could not speculate on the extent of the man’s injuries.
The man was transported by the Flanders-Northampton Volunteer Ambulance to the parking lot of the David C. Crohan Community Center, where a Suffolk County Police Medevac helicopter was able to land.
Police are investigating the incident.
