Southampton Town Police Make Nearly Three Dozen Arrests Over Holiday Weekend

Southampton Town Police were kept busy over Memorial Day weekend, making 33 arrests over four days, most of which involved drug- and alcohol-related crimes.

Joseph Madigan of Calverton and Kristopher Lindstrand of Manorville, both 27, were arrested Saturday after police said they saw them use a controlled substance in the parking lot of The Beach Bar in Hampton Bays. Mr. Madigan was charged with fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Mr. Lindstrand was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Police said Jason Pearl, 33, of Oceanside was arrested Sunday at an undisclosed location and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. And Edward Buscarino, 23, of North Bellmore was arrested at 2:37 p.m. Sunday and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Police did not provide additional details with those arrests.

Additionally, Duvan Castro, 27, of Sag Harbor was arrested at 12:06 a.m. Monday and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors. Police said he slashed the tires of an acquaintance during a domestic dispute. After arresting him, officers said they found in his possession a plastic bag containing an unidentified white substance.

Police also arrested Jennifer Loeper, 26, of Selden and Otto Eckstein, 20, of Manhattan on Monday on misdemeanor charges of driving while their ability was impaired by drugs, in separate incidents. Ms. Loeper was additionally charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and failing to keep right, a violation. She was arrested at 3:01 a.m. at the intersection of Flanders Road and Woodroad Trail in Flanders. Mr. Eckstein, who was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, was arrested at 5:30 a.m. on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton.

Police arrested the following 15 people and charged them with misdemeanor DWI:

Carlos Luna, 45, of Flanders was arrested at 4:28 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Montauk Highway and West Springville Road in Hampton Bays.

Kaitlin Hipworth, 25, of Garden City was arrested at 7:27 p.m. Monday on Dune Road in Hampton Bays after she attempted a U-turn and got stuck in the sand.

Elizabeth Kritzer, 56, of North Sea was arrested at 8:33 p.m. Monday on North Sea Road in North Sea.

Angelo Vetrano, 32, of Shirley was arrested Monday at the intersection of Ponquogue Avenue and Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

Brian Zeh, 45, of Southampton was arrested Sunday on North Mecox Road in Southampton and also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, and several misdemeanors, including failing to comply with a lawful order, fleeing a police officer and consuming an alcoholic beverage in a car, and multiple violations, including reckless driving.

Diego Manosalvas-Flores, 29, of Maspeth was arrested at 8:31 p.m. Sunday on Dune Road in Hampton Bays.

Paulo Melo, 29, of Connecticut was arrested at 8:33 p.m. Sunday on Dune Road in East Quogue.

Jaime Choy-Canel, 27, of Flanders was arrested at 12:03 a.m. Sunday on Flanders Road in Flanders.

Raul Quezada, 27, of Hampton Bays was arrested at 3:15 a.m. Sunday on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays and also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, and driving without a license, a violation.

Elisa Orlando, 53, of Staten Island was arrested at 12:26 a.m. Sunday on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

Nadezda Gallagher, 28, of Brooklyn was arrested at 2:52 a.m. Sunday on the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton.

Christopher Prendegast, 23, of East Rockaway was arrested at 3:44 a.m. Sunday on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

Jason Hobson, 35, of Hampton Bays was arrested at 9:14 p.m. Sunday on Pleasure Drive in Flanders. Mr. Hobson, who was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, lost control of his car and hit a tree and fence, causing his vehicle to overturn.

Robert Ryan, 52, of Merrick was arrested at 7:57 p.m. Friday on Head of Pond Road in East Quogue.

Denise Gravel, 50, of Hampton Bays was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Friday on Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays.

Also arrested was Oswald Ramierez-Trejos, 28, of the Bronx. He was arrested Monday at Neptune Beach Bar on Dune Road Hampton Bays and charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation. Police said he refused to leave the bar after being asked by security and police. When told he was under arrest, Ramierez-Trejos attempted to punch an officer but missed and fell to the ground, where he was cuffed.

Costa Carlafates, 45, of Bellmore was arrested Monday on Montauk Highway in Water Mill. Police said he was involved at a fight at Trata Restaurant and punched his victim in the face.

Nine additional people were arrested for various violations, including drinking in public and public urination over the holiday weekend.
