The Surf Lodge in Montauk is asking some people who do not already hold tickets not to attend a concert by Willie Nelson planned for Sunday evening.
“Due to our overwhelming capacity for the Willie Nelson performance, we cannot honor general admittance on Sunday, June 9th,” the Lodge’s website said as of Saturday evening.
“In respect of our community,” it continued, “we ask that you do not try to get access to the Surf Lodge on Sunday, June 9th.”
The concert is free, according to the Surf Lodge’s website, although concertgoers were promised guarantied admittance if they donated $100 to the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation, whose website has said for days that the option was sold out. The concert is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., and it is recommended that those who wish to attend arrive at 6 p.m.
The East Hampton Town Marine Patrol may patrol Fort Pond in addition to Town Police and fire marshals taking care of the Surf Lodge, which is on Edgemere Road, Police Chief Ed Ecker Jr. said last week. He recommended that those who do not need to use Edgemere/Flamingo Road, on which the Montauk Firehouse is located, use another route of travel.
