Southampton High SchoolSenior Alexandria Ferraiuolo has been named the June Lions Student of the Month. A member of the Spanish Honor Society and the League of Women Voters, Alex has been named to the principal’s list every year and is the 2013 yearbook editor. She has been a member of the field hockey team, the Student Council, Best Buddies club, Voice of Southampton and the Outing Club, and participated in numerous productions both on and behind the scenes on the high school stage. In her spare time, Alex enjoys photography, surfing, sailing, swimming, gardening and spending time with her family. Her plans after graduation include attending Suffolk County Community College to major in English with the eventual goal of becoming a playwright for television. Alex is the daughter of Anthony and Barbara Ferraiuolo.Southampton Intermediate SchoolEmily Cullings and her sixth grade English Language Arts students hosted a very successful Poetry Slam on Wednesday, June 5, in the music room. Almost 100 students, parents, teachers and community members were in attendance to hear original student poetry, music, videos, and guest speakers, as well as learn about anti-trafficking and anti-slavery efforts going on all over the world. Representatives from the local Fair Trade store discussed their knowledge and wares. All funds raised will be donated to the organization Stop Child Trafficking Now in order to aid them in finding and prosecuting child traffickers in the United States.
