Authorities are looking for two men who they say impersonated police officers, approached an East Quogue man and assaulted him.
At around 4 p.m. on Friday, the victim told Southampton Town Police that he was riding his bike near his Hallock Avenue home when a white-and-green Ford Bronco pulled up. Two men sitting inside the vehicle, who were dressed similar to law enforcement officials, then began questioning him about where he was coming from and going.
Believing that they were police officers, the man said he began answering their questions, when one of the men exited the vehicle and kicked him in the groin, knocking him off his bike, according to a police report. The two men then fled the scene in the vehicle.
The victim, who has not been identified by authorities, was taken to the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of his injuries.
Police said they have no additional information to share and are investigating the incident.
