Three people were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries on Sunday night after the mini-bus they were on tipped over following an accident, Southampton Town Police said.
The Rumba Rum Bus, which shuttles people from the restaurant Rumba to an off-site parking lot, was driving on Canoe Place Road at 8:12 p.m. on Sunday when it rear-ended a car waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway on the road. As a result, the bus tipped over onto its side, causing minor injuries to the driver and two passengers, according to Sergeant Michael Joyce of the Southampton Town Police. The driver of the other car was not hurt.
All three bus passengers were taken to Southampton Hospital by the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the bus, according to Sgt. Joyce, was ticketed for having an expired registration.
Southampton Town and New York State Police both responded to the scene. The road was closed for approximately one hour.
Calls to Rumba for comment were not returned.
