The Water Mill branch of Suffolk County National Bank will be closing its doors this fall as part of a plan to streamline efficiency for the bank countywide.
The branch is one of two—along with one in Middle Island—that will be closing in Suffolk County on October 4, according to Frank Filipo, the executive vice president for the bank.
“It is part of an effort to make the bank more efficient and to make us a little tighter organizationally,” Mr. Filipo said this week. “We took a look at our branch system to see where we could consolidate, and that location was selected.”
The bank has approximately 30 branch offices.
According to Mr. Filipo, bank patrons were notified of the closure through letters mailed on June 27. He added that East End residents have several options to continue banking with Suffolk County National Bank, noting that there are branches in Southampton, Sag Harbor and East Hampton, among many other places. Patrons have the option to have their accounts transferred to any branch of their choosing.
