Suffolk County Police identified the victim as Heather Petrie, 40, of Eastport.
Ms. Petrie was driving a white 2005 Ford Mustang southbound on County Road 111, when it struck the center median and flipped, landing in the northbound lanes, according to police.
A woman was killed in the single-car crash after her vehicle struck the center median on County Road 111 and overturned, according to a Suffolk County Police spokesperson.
Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and her identify is being withheld pending the notification of her family. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
The road reopened to traffic in both directions at about 11:20 a.m. Seventh Squad detectives are investigating. The crash occurred just north of County Road 51, police said.
County Road 111 in Eastport remained closed as of 11 a.m. Thursday morning due to a motor vehicle accident, according to Suffolk County Police.
Both northbound lanes were closed at Exit 62 off Sunrise Highway, and one southbound lane was closed, police said.
Additional details about the crash, which occurred at about 7:45 a.m., were not available.
