The Hampton Bays Public Library’s $2.04 million budget proposal for 2014 was approved by voters, 135-24, on Tuesday, according to an email from library director Susan LaVista.
The 2014 budget is $30,000 more than the current budget and results in an increase in the tax rate from 51 cents to 54 cents per $1,000 of assessed value. The total taxes collected by the library will increase from $1.79 million to $1.80 million.
“This operating budget will allow the library to continue its long-standing tradition of excellent customer service, as well [as] provide innovative programs and new materials for all patrons,” Ms. LaVista wrote in the email.
The new budget will go into effect on January 1, 2014.
