Route 114 Closed For Two Hours After Truck Crashes Into Utility Pole

A pickup truck struck and knocked down a utility pole along Route 114 in East Hampton, closing a section of the road for two hours Saturday evening, according to East Hampton Town Police.

The driver, Stephen Dombrowski, 17, of Montauk, dropped a cigarette on the floor and bent down to pick it up, according to police, when he lost control and his truck hit the pole, located between Whooping Hollow Road and Wainscott Northwest Road, at 7:27 p.m.

The truck rolled into a tree after the initial impact. There were two people in the vehicle, but no one was injured, police said.

The Long Island Power Authority responded and replaced the pole.
