I’m sure that the three hummingbirds hovering above the colorful flowers on my terrace this weekend were just helping me get ready for my garden’s next big event.The Quogue Library’s special program “A Wildlife Garden Native and Natural” will take place in my garden next Sunday, September 15, starting at 2 p.m. The conversation will be warm, casual and interactive and, together, we will have a lot of fun discussing wildlife gardening. Joining us will be Suzanne Ruggles, better known as The Barefoot Gardener.

And, speaking of fun things to do, there are still a few tickets left for the hottest event in town—the annual “End of Season Lobster Bash” sponsored by our East Quogue Chamber of Commerce.
This fantastic event takes place this Sunday, September 8, starting at 6 p.m., at the always fabulous Dockers Waterside Restaurant and Marina on Dune Road.
Tickets to the bash cost $65 each ($120 for two) and include an open bar with beer, wine and champagne served from 6 to 8 p.m. And, afterward, there will be a delicious lobster dinner, dancing to the wonderful sounds of Noiz and a cash bar.

Monday, September 9: The East Quogue Homemakers will meet at the East Quogue Firehouse on Montauk Highway at 10 a.m. Members will hold a business meeting and then work on their projects. New members are welcome.
Wednesday, September 11: The East Quogue Citizens Advisory Committee meets at 7 p.m. in the library of the East Quogue Elementary School on Central Avenue.
Saturday, September 21: Saint Paul’s “Soul Food” fundraiser takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the church grounds located at 39 Montauk Highway in Quogue. Tickets cost $15 and include dinner, drinks and dessert. For information, call (631) 653-5524 or (917) 723-7207.
Sunday, September 22: The 15th annual Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce’s Chili-Chowder Contest takes place starting at noon at the Boardy Barn on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.
