UPDATE: East Hampton Firefighters Knock Down Blaze Monday Night

UPDATE, 1:10 A.M.:

Firefighters and emergency responders from the Sag Harbor and Amagansett fire departments joined the East Hampton Fire Department in extinguishing the fire at the home on Monday night. The East Hampton Town Fire Marshal was on the scene as well.

According to East Hampton Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief Chris Hren, about 50 to 60 people responded to the call that came in at 10:58 p.m. The flames were contained to the basement and knocked down within 15 to 20 minutes, he added. He said no one was injured but that he didn’t know how much damage was done to the home.

Some volunteers woke out of sleep to get to the scene—one man wore pajamas under his gear.

Firefighters were battling a blaze at a house in East Hampton Village late Monday night.

The fire at 43 East Dune Lane began in the basement of the house and spread to the first floor. The occupants of the house had made it outside by the time East Hampton Fire Department arrived on the scene after receiving a call at around 11 p.m.
