A new eatery has opened in Speonk at the former Trolley Barn site off Montauk Highway, offering customers an array of Latina cuisine, from plantains to chorizo.
La Copa Dorada, which means “The Golden Cup” in Spanish, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, from 9 a.m. daily until midnight, seven days a week.
Mickza Canales said her mother, Santos Oseguara, officially opened the restaurant earlier this month. Ms. Canales said she and her sisters, Clanzi Oseguara and Esperanza Canales, help run the business. The family, originally from Honduras, enjoys cooking, Ms. Canales said.
The restaurant’s interior has been renovated and now features stained glass windows separating the full bar from the dining room. The menu, which is available in both English and Spanish, offers plenty of options, including steak and chicken entrées, fajitas and tacos, as well as a number of seafood dishes.
For years, the Trolley Barn offered family-style dining under the ownership of the Schunk family of Westhampton. The restaurant changed hands several times in recent years before closing its doors a few years ago.
