The East Hampton field hockey team got its season off to a great start with a 9-0 win over Hampton Bays on the road on Monday. Sophia DePasquale scored twice and had an assist, while both Alyssa Bahel and Shannon McCaffrey had a goal and an assist. Mary Nolan, Kathryn Wood, Casey Waleko, Francesca Keogh and Amanda Calabrese all scored a goal as well.
The Southampton field hockey team also got off to a nice start, beating Babylon 3-0 on the road. Miranda Maloney, Leila Thomas and Shelby Pierson all scored and Alex Ambrose made just one save. The Pierson field hockey team was dominant as well, beating Division III newcomer Bayport/Blue Point 5-1 on the road. Kasey Gilbride had three goals and an assist, while Emme Luck scored twice and had an assist, and Allura Leggard had two assists. In her first varsity start, goalie Sam Duchemin made five saves.
After a scoreless first half, the East Hampton girls soccer team pulled away from Pierson in a non-league game on Monday, going on to a 3-0 win. Rachel Harty led East Hampton with a goal and an assist, while Wylee Musnicki and Jen Inamagua each scored. Francesca Schelfout (five) and Lexi Jones (two) combined for seven saves.
The East Hampton boys soccer team improved to 2-0 and goalie Nick Tulp picked up his second shutout with a 1-0 overtime win against Mattituck in a non-league home game. Nick Quiroz scored off a rebound from a Nick West shot that hit the crossbar with just less than seven minutes remaining in the second overtime.
The Southampton boys soccer team moved to 1-1 in non-league games with an 8-1 home win over Greenport. Senior Milos Djurasic had three goals and an assist, while Andrew Gardner, Jesse Scanlon and Elliot LaGuardia each had a goal and an assist. Israel Osorno and Gianluca Santacruz each scored once.
