An East Hampton man was arrested by East Hampton Town Police early Tuesday morning after allegedly driving drunk on Hand’s Creek Road in East Hampton, an act that sent him and a passenger to the hospital, according to police.
Alexis Rivera Narvez, 20, was driving his 1988 Chevrolet Corvette when he swerved off the road and struck several trees before the car came to rest in a wooded area on Hand’s Creek Road near Atlantic Street, police said. The call came in at 11:50 p.m. on Monday.
Mr. Narvez had to be extricated from the car and both he and his 24-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital, police said. Mr. Narvez was taken by Medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center and the 24-year-old was driven to Southampton Hospital by East Hampton Volunteer Ambulance. Police said they could not comment on the seriousness of their injuries.
Police said it was unclear as of Tuesday morning why the car left the road, but that the matter was still under investigation.
Mr. Narvez was arrested by police shortly after 1 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor DWI.
