The New York Farm Bureau, in conjunction with the Long Island Farm Bureau, will offer scholarship opportunities to local high school seniors who plan on pursuing careers in agriculture.
Interested students are encouraged to apply for a New York Farm Bureau Agricultural Youth Scholarship, sponsored by the New York Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Committee, through November 18. Qualified applicants must have either a family or student Farm Bureau membership, and are required to submit a brief essay answering the following question: “If you had the power to change something in your community or on your farm, what would you change and why?”
Scholarships will be awarded as follows: $1,500 for first place; $1,200 for second; and $1,000 for third. The top finisher will also be invited to present his or her essay at a New York Farm Bureau event in the spring.
To request an application, call 1-800-342-4143, or visit www.nyfb.org and then scroll down to “Farm Essentials.”
The deadline for filing applications is November 18.
