The Eastport South Manor girls tennis team dropped to 1-3 in League VII play after two losses last week. ESM fell 4-3 at home to Ross on Friday after losing 6-1 at East Hampton on September 18.
The Lady Sharks did earn a 4-3 non-league victory at home over Shoreham/Wading River on September 17. Nicole Horn defeated Joelle Benigno in three sets to help ESM earn the victory. After losing the first game 6-0, Horn bounced back to win 6-4 and 6-2.
The Lady Baymen showed Amityville the consequences of showing up late to a game as they defeated the Lady Warriors 5-0 at home on September 18.
Amityville arrived 10 minutes late to last week’s game due to heavy traffic heading east. The game did not start until nearly 7 p.m., almost an hour later than scheduled.
Hampton Bays junior M.K. Hilton scored two goals for the Lady Baymen while seniors Brianna Thompson and Trish Liotta, and junior Emma Henry, each had a goal. Sophomore Hannah Reed made two saves for the shutout.
The Lady Baymen did suffer a 2-0 loss at Central Islip on September 17. Hampton Bay is 1-1 in League VIII, 2-1 overall.
The Lady Hurricanes played to a rare scoreless tie at Comsewogue on September 18. Westhampton Beach is 0-1-1 in League V and 1-2-1 overall.
The Hampton Bays girls tennis team fell 7-0 at home to Mattituck on September 18, then lost 6-1 at Southampton on Friday. Hampton Bays is 1-4 this season.
The Baymen picked up their first win of the season, a 5.5-3.5 victory at their home course of Calverton Links on September 17. The win improves Hampton Bays to 1-3 in League VII.
The Hurricanes suffered two 9-0 home losses at the Westhampton Country Club at the hands of Pierson and Southampton last week. They were defeated by Pierson on September 17 before losing to Southampton two days later. Westhampton Beach is 1-2 in League VIII.
The Hurricanes had a busy week, playing three games. After losing 5-2 at Comsewogue on September 17, Westhampton Beach played to a 1-1 tie at home in a non-league game with Bayport/Blue Point on Friday. They then lost 2-0 at home to Mattituck in another non-league game on Saturday.
Max Pastor put the Hurricanes up 1-0 in the first half of the game against Bayport. But Greg Larsson tied the game with 17 minutes remaining for Bayport, and neither team could score in the two overtime periods. Westhampton Beach is 0-2 in League V, 0-5-1 overall.
The Sharks were the only remaining undefeated team in League VII as of Monday, standing at 4-0. They beat Riverhead 7.5-1.5 last Thursday, September 19, after taking down Mercy 8-1 the previous day.
Joey Busiello shot a 2-over 38 on the front nine at Riverhead’s Cherry Creek Country Club in the victory over the Blue Waves. In the win over Mercy, Kyle Tillinghast shot a 39 (+4) on the front nine at the Hampton Hills Country Club, ESM’s home course. Busiello shot a 40 (+5).
