More than 100 chili enthusiasts and clam chowder connoisseurs turned out in full force for the 15th annual Chili/Chowder Competition afternoon Sunday in Hampton Bays.
The Bangstons General team took the top honor in the chili division of the judge’s competition while Cow Fish placed first in the judge’s and the people’s choice competitions for its clam chowder. The long-time crowd favorite Steamfitters team got the fan vote for its fiery inferno chili.
The event was hosted by the Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce at the Boardy Barn and the admissions fees collected at door of the event went to a scholarship fund that helps college-bound Hampton Bays High School graduates.
