The Affordable Care Act, the 2,000 page law commonly referred to as ObamaCare, perhaps one of the most polarizing laws ever passed as evidenced by the 40 times the U.S. House of Representatives have voted to repeal it, will be explained to the business owners it will impact by experts in Sag Harbor this week.
The Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an explanation of the health care reform package over breakfast at The American Hotel on Wednesday, September 25. While the talk will be wide-ranging and open to all who wish to attend, the focus will be on the implications of the new law on small businesses.
With the New York State health exchanges opening up October 1 for enrollment applications, the discussion will be led by Susan Morrissey of Morrissey Advisory Services in Sag Harbor. Ms. Morrissey has recently been certified by the state to sell insurance plans off the exchange and will address details and questions specific to New York’s exchange program. Ms. Morrissey will address the different plans available on both the small-group market, which small businesses would be using, as well as on the individual market.
The breakfast will run from 7:30 – 9 a.m., and will cost $18 for chamber members and $25 for non-members. Reservations are required. Make a reservation by sending an email to email@example.com or by calling 377-2662.
