Update: Man Killed In Sag Harbor Blaze On Monday


Update: 6:50 p.m.

A member of the Sag Harbor Fire Department who was on the scene earlier today, as well as multiple neighbors who said they were informed by officials, confirmed the death of Wesley Howard Carrion, 90.

Neighbors said Mr. Carrion was a retired New York City probation officer and a retired U.S. Army major.

As of 6:30 p.m., officials on the scene refused to comment on the fire, citing it as an ongoing investigation. The referred questions to the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.

The house, at 14 Hillside Drive East, was visibly black throughout its interior, with a hole in the roof, blown out windows, and furniture littering the lawn.

Update: 5:25 p.m.

A house fire on Hillside Drive East in Sag Harbor was extinguished Monday afternoon. The house was occupied by an 88-year-old man who was transported to Southampton Hospital. A neighbor said the man living in the house is Wesley Howard Carrion, 90, a retired New York City probation officer and U.S. Army veteran.

The East Hampton Town fire marshal and the Suffolk County Arson Squad were called to the scene. Sag Harbor Village Police also responded

Volunteers from the Sag Harbor and East Hampton fire departments were among those on the scene as firefighters battled a blaze on Hillside Drive in Sag Harbor at around 4 p.m. on Monday. The fire was reportedly at a house under construction. Further information was not immediately available.
