The Southampton Town Planning Board will hold a public meeting this week to discuss an environmental study for a proposed cell phone tower in Bridgehampton.
The application, which has been floating around Town Hall since early 2012, calls for the installation of a 120-foot-tall monopole on a quarter-acre lot on Foster Avenue in Bridgehampton. The land on which AT&T hopes to build its tower is zoned light industrial.
Currently, the lot contains an existing 3,990-square-foot storage warehouse and several parking spaces. It is located across the street from office suites, next door to a car repair shop, and in front of Long Island Rail Road tracks.
Under the proposed plan, the warehouse would remain. The cell tower would be 3 feet wide at its base and would taper in closer to the top.
The public scoping session for the application will be held today, October 10, at 7 p.m. at Southampton Town Hall on Hampton Road.
