Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Hit By Car In Springs


A New York City woman was admitted to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical but stable condition after she was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Springs on Saturday afternoon.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Kathryn Jones, 58, was riding northbound on Three Mile Harbor/Hog Creek Road near Gann Road at about 12:25 p.m. when she was struck by a 2006 Subaru driven by 65-year-old Antjemaria D. Katcher of East Hampton. The car also was traveling northbound, police said.

Ms. Jones was transported by Springs Ambulance and then by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. Police could not provide more information about her condition on Tuesday. Mr. Katcher was not injured and he is not expected to be charged, according to police.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection, and the investigation is continuing. Witnesses are asked to call Town Police at (631) 537-7575.
