Store Clerk Charged With Selling Alcohol To Minor In Westhampton Beach


New York State Police cited a clerk at Westhampton Beach Fine Wine and Spirits for furnishing alcohol to a minor last Wednesday, October 23.

Linda Overton, 67, of Westhampton Beach, a clerk at the Montauk Highway store, was cited with unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, both misdemeanors, for selling alcohol to a minor during the undercover investigation, according to authorities.

Several other businesses were targeted during the sting operation but were found to be in compliance, according to State Police. They include: the Hess Mart on Montauk Highway in Quogue; the 7-Eleven on Sunset Avenue in Westhampton Beach; the Valero gas station on Old Riverhead Road in Westhampton Beach; East Quogue Pizza and Deli and East Quogue Wines and Liquor, both on Montauk Highway; Pete’s Deli and Cork N Jug Wines and Liquors, both on West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays; Hampton Deli on Flanders Road in Flanders; and the Shell gas station on East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.
