‘Anne Frank’ Stages At Bay Street

Bay Street Theatre’s Literature Live! presents “Diary of Anne Frank,” staging Friday, November 8, through Tuesday, November 26.

Directed by Joe Minutillo, the play will star Jessica Mortellaro as Anne Frank, Sawyer Avery as Peter Van Daan, Keith Cornelius a Mr. Frank, Chloë Dirksen as Miep, Terrance Fiore as Mr. Dussel, Lydia Franco-Hodges as Mrs. Frank, Josh Gladstone as Mr. Van Daan, Kate Mueth as Mrs. Van Daan, Joe Pallister as Mr. Kraler and Georgia Warner as Margot Frank. The production team includes Chris Clark, Elizabeth Schiavo, Gary Hygom, Mike Billings, Kate Darcy, Greg Wilson and Daniel Goodale.

“The Diary Of Anne Frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is a stage adaptation of the book. The story, which made its debut in 1956, won both a Tony award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for drama. The play is about eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed space above a warehouse in Amsterdam. As the drama unfolds, their claustrophobic existence, their hopes, their fears and their indomitable will to survive become clear.

The play, which is suggested for age 13 and up, is part of the Literature Live! program for schools and will also be staged for the public. Public performance pricing is set at $12 for students and $25 for adults. Special rates are given to schools and other groups.
