AIA Awards East End Architects

At this year’s Daniel J. Rowen Memorial Design Awards Program—run by the American Institute of Architects Peconic Chapter—a panel of jurors honored 11 projects on the East End that displayed architectural excellence on Saturday, November 16, at the Southampton Center.

Architecture Honor Awards were given to Blaze Makoid Architecture in Bridgehampton for its work on Daniels Lane; Bates + Masi Architects in Sag Harbor for “Mothersill” in Water Mill; Bridgehampton-based Stelle Lomont Rouhani Architects for its work on “Shore House;” and James Merrell Architects in Sag Harbor for “Amagansett Lanes.”

The following firms won Architecture Merit Awards: Bates + Masi Architects for its work in Sagaponack; California-based Marmol Radziner and Associates Architects for “Bull Path Residence” in East Hampton; Blaze Makoid Architecture for its work on Bull Path in East Hampton; and James Merrell Architects for “Idaho House.”

Juror Awards—handpicked by Manhattan-based architects Eric Goshow, Kim Yao and Jordan Gruzen—went to Maziar Behrooz Architecture in East Hampton for “Illumination Center;” Southampton-based John David Rose Architect for “Next Generation Housing;” and Hideaki Ariizumi and Glynis Berry of studio a/b architects in Riverhead for “Eco Park for Greenport, NY.”
